About Me
I lead product engineering for Morae's software portfolio, with teams across South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States and India. My work is the engineering organisation itself: how it is structured, how it builds, and the architecture and governance that everything ships against.
I joined Morae to build a product engineering capability across a portfolio of products that had been acquired at different times and built in isolation. I am responsible for engineering strategy and organisation design, for the architecture and governance the portfolio is built to, and for the platform direction that puts a single foundation beneath every product.
Before Morae I led the technology operating model transformation at the Shoprite Group, moving a 1,600-person IT function from project-based execution to value-stream-aligned, product-centric delivery, then headed enterprise Delivery Enablement across that organisation. Earlier I was COO and CTO of a SaaS platform business serving millions of users across more than a hundred countries, in a highly regulated, real-money environment where a defect was a financial and regulatory event rather than a support ticket. I started as a developer and spent years as an architect before moving into leadership, which is still how I read a system.
Outside work I am a long-distance runner and have completed a number of ultra marathons.
Better teams build better products. The standards, the structures and the architecture all exist to let good engineers do their best work, not to constrain them.

AI is reshaping legal work faster than almost any other professional services market, and Morae sits where the technology and the legal expertise meet. Capturing that depends on whether the engineering underneath can deliver at enterprise standard, at pace, across a global portfolio. Building that capability, and the discipline that makes it durable, is the most interesting problem I could be working on.
