A Project Manager understands all the moving parts within a project. From Initiating to Closure, the Project Manager is responsible for disseminating updates to the team and stakeholders. Their ability to identify when tasks should occur and how various pieces fit together is a core necessity for any project. Whether it be resources, conflicts or risks, your Project Manager expertly guides the project to completion and ensures the goals set by the client are met.

Consistent Communications

This is by far one of the most critical roles a Project Manager plays. The Project Manager’s ability to clearly and concisely communicate with the project team, the stakeholders and sponsors is invaluable. The capability to relay project status, requirements, scheduling and changes to all levels of the organization is a soft skill, but ensures the team moves the project in the right direction and course corrects when necessary.

Managing the Iron Triangle (Cost, Time and Scope)

The traditional method for managing projects is defined by three factors: Cost, Time and Scope.  A change in one constraint necessitates a change in another constraint. Your project manager manages the three parameters at all times and identifies the impact of any change. For instance, if there is a request for scope change, educating the sponsor on the impact that the change will have on timeline and costs allows them to make the appropriate decision on how to proceed.

Control Risks

While you hope for the best, you plan for the worst!  A Project Manager will identify potential risks and create a mitigation plan.  Planning for risks in any project will ensure that you are tracking them and that you’ll be prepared if the risk becomes a reality. Mitigating these risks will often be a part of the Project Managers role. They should be able to implement changes when an issue occurs.

Project Execution

The Project Manager ensures the designers, engineers, trainers, and other team members can focus on what they do best.  To accomplish this a Project Manager will remove obstacles, direct traffic and handle all the items above so that the team can execute on their tasks in an efficient manner. Ensuring that each team member is moving towards completing their tasks with efficiency and excellence.

The Project Manger orchestrates the entire project and ensures that your project comes in on time, on schedule and within budget.  Having someone who is trained to manage projects and is dedicated to the role daily ensures success.
